“The sibling group of 7 that we just brought together under our care had previously been placed in 3 different parts of the state. Coming into foster care is the first time the siblings had ever been apart from each other. In order to have in-person visits, all the kids had to travel all around the state with different workers all day. Visits were on Saturdays and it was a 16 hour ordeal.”

Making Together Possible
PROVIDING A COMMUNITY OF FOSTER HOMES AND SUPPORT FOR FOSTER FAMILIES TO WELCOME LARGE SIBLING GROUPS
Brothers and sisters should not experience the added loss of being separated from one another when placed in foster care. But foster homes most often do not have the needed space or support to receive multiple children. This reality leaves siblings at risk of being placed in different foster homes, often in different communities.
We are meeting the need for brothers and sisters to stay together while in foster care. Our campuses provide foster homes and a community of support that allows foster families to welcome large sibling groups. Children experience a real home and family environment while living on our campuses.
It means we don’t have to only see them on visits anymore. We get to love on them all the time.
A SIBLING FROM A CAMPUS FOSTER HOME
Our Monticello Campus Ministry
Located on 80 acres offering fishing ponds, farm animals and horseback riding, our flagship ministry, Arkansas Baptist Homes for Children, provides a unique setting for foster families of siblings. The rich heritage of the campus offers a longstanding partnership of support from the Monticello community. Life on campus also cultivates a community of support for families. The role of our campus staff is to be on mission with you as you serve, minister to and care for siblings in foster care. You are not in it alone. Campus facilities offer an atmosphere that strengthens your care of brothers and sisters, including our main building where campus events take place, a gym that hosts community events and is an outlet for campus kids to play, a large playground, an all new swimming pool, and acres to enjoy. Further, our four homes have been newly remodeled, offering a desirable space to relocate your family. We not only equip families with specialized training to meet the unique needs of caring for siblings. Families are also supported with professional services from our Connected Foster Care staff.

Keeping brothers and sisters together provides children a sense of belonging and safety. They are able to make the transition into foster care more successfully and the work towards family reunification is more successful.
